Soaking up the Afternoon Sun
| 6 imagesAbout a month back, while photographing prairie dogs at Cherry Creek, the alarm sounded. Prairie dog alarms sort of ripple through their colonies as a threat moves through, especially a colony as populated as ‘Dog Town. At first I thought the alarm might have been because of me jostling my hide, however after about a minute, a lone young coyote meandered over a rise. He stood still for a moment, and seemed to be enjoying soaking up the rather rare, relatively warm (at the time, early February) afternoon sun.
Great photos of a beautiful animal in wonderful terrain.
All great photos, Jon.
That face in the first shot is absolutely priceless!
I agree! I love the expressions on coyote faces. They have so much depth and curiosity. You can tell this population of coyotes is happy, too, in their expressions.
